Society of Heads' 100 Words Competition 2025
We are delighted to announce the winners of The Society of Heads “Letters to the Earth” 100 Words Competition. It has been inspiring to see so many students engage enthusiastically in an initiative that harnesses the power of language to express genuine care and concern for our planet.
Students wrote with vision—whether sharing hopes for a healthier Earth, celebrating the beauty of our oceans, or proposing innovative ideas to conserve energy. These letters demonstrated a profound connection with environmental issues and a readiness to contribute positively to global challenges.
The judges were impressed by the exceptional quality of the entries, which combined heartfelt messages, articulate expression, and creative thinking. The calibre of the entries reflects the dedication of both our young students and educators in nurturing voices capable of driving meaningful change.

Society of Heads' Animation Competition 2025
We are thrilled to announce the winners of The Society of Heads Animation Competition 2025!
This year's competition, open to pupils in Years 3-6, challenged our students to explore the theme of Inclusion and Inclusivity. We were incredibly impressed by the diverse and imaginative ways pupils interpreted this theme. The animations showcased a fantastic range of creative techniques, from paper cut-outs and modelling clay to live writing and even the innovative use of vegetables!
Our judges were particularly struck by the thoughtful messages woven into each animation, accompanied by engaging sound effects, original backing music, excellent narration, and plenty of humour. The high quality, creativity, and skill displayed by all made the judging process a true pleasure.
A huge thank you to all the pupils who submitted their superb entries and to the teachers who supported them. Your efforts truly made this competition a success!

Thank you to the following schools for competiting in our annual knock-out tournament: Cokethorpe School, Denstone College, Halliford School, Highclare School, LVS Ascot, Milton Abbey School, Newcastle School for Boys, Oswestry School, St Columba’s College, St Joseph’s College (Ipswich), St Joseph’s College (Reading) and Wetherby Senior School.
The final game was Highclare School vs St Columba's College, St Albans.
With Highclare School declared the winners 4-1

We are especially proud of the launch of the Society of Heads' Girls Football Tournament. It is excellent to see girls being empowered in sport. Within our membership some teams are just starting out, some are well established, but all are an inspiration to how far girls football has come. Thank you all so much for representing your schools.

Society of Heads' U18 Sevens Rugby Tournament at St Joseph's College
On Friday 7th March, St Joseph’s College proudly hosted the Society of Heads U18 Sevens Rugby Tournament, bringing together schools from across the country for an evening of fast-paced, high-quality rugby. With plenty of tries, hard-fought contests, and outstanding sportsmanship on display, it was a fantastic showcase of schoolboy sevens.
Teams battled through two gruelling pool stages before the play-offs determined the final standings. In an exciting local derby final, Shiplake College emerged victorious against Reading Blue Coat to claim the title.
A huge thank you to all the teams who took part: Shiplake College, Reading Blue Coat, Mount Kelly, Oswestry, St Felix, St Columba’s, and the RAMS Schools Academy, which brought together talented players from local state schools.
We look forward to welcoming you all back next year for another thrilling evening of rugby!
Society of Heads' Poetry Recital Competition 2025 (NEW COMPETITION)
Thank you to those who submitted your pupils’ superb entries for The Society of Heads Poetry Recital Competition. A new competition for 2024-25. The judges were very impressed with the high standard of performances. The polished recitals were confidently performed with clear, expressive diction, confident movements and a style which interacted with the viewer. There were some amazingly talented performers who had worked incredibly hard to produce their poetry recitals led by very skilful, talented teachers.
