Berkhamsted pupils were given an insight into their futures at our recent Universities Fair. Deans’ Hall was bustling with representatives from a wide range of universities including Durham University, University of Bath, University of Exeter and other highly regarded institutions. For some pupils, this was a chance to learn more about their dream university, while others were able to explore options they may not have considered before.
Year 11 and 12 pupils were able to meet with a selection of higher education advisers who offered specialist advice on courses and pathways. Mrs Jane Simons, Head of Universities and Healthcare Applications, was on hand for advice, while Head of Oxbridge Mr Stephen Belfield spoke to pupils keen to pursue Oxford or Cambridge. Following on from their successful International Universities Fair in Michaelmas term, The University Guys returned to support pupils hoping to apply to universities overseas. Pupils also had the chance to meet with Keystone Sports, who are specialists in Sports Scholarships.
In addition, Head of Careers Mr Simon Long shared insight on Degree Apprenticeships and how they can be a viable pathway for pupils who want to gain hands-on experience while earning a qualification. Parents and pupils were then updated on new UCAS Personal Statement guidance by Mrs Jane Simons. We were also lucky to hear advice from Lancaster University on best practice applications for competitive universities and courses.
The evening was a brilliant opportunity for pupils to explore the vast range of choices available to them in the future. With a selection of universities, sports pathways and international options to spark their curiosity and encourage them to Aim High, we look forward to supporting the future endeavours of all our pupils.
