CLAREMONT Fan Court school of Esher, Surrey, has purchased a neighbouring property to support continued development and growth of this popular and thriving co-educational day school, for children aged 2½ to 18 years.
With a reputation for high academic standards and a well-rounded education, set amongst 100 acres of unique countryside in the middle of Esher, Claremont is a school bus ride away from south west London. Renowned for excellent pastoral care, the school is experiencing unprecedented demand since the start of the pandemic, and now needs to develop learning facilities while also preserving the beautiful grounds and historic buildings.
Headmaster, William Brierly stated, ‘The acquisition of this property is a game-changing opportunity for Claremont Fan Court School. We are blessed with a wonderfully calming setting, but we have always rightly needed to respect the site’s greenbelt status and listed buildings and landscapes. The new site will open up easier, safer and less disruptive construction opportunities to expand further and develop our wonderful school.’
West Acre, the 1930’s property, shares 98% of its boundary with the school. The acquisition, which has been funded without additional borrowing, will support future site development with considerably less disruption to pupils, neighbouring properties and the wider local community.
Claremont Fan Court school recently completed the development of the Sir Sydney Camm science and technology building, incorporating eco-friendly green and brown roofs, together with photovoltaic panels and tree planting with specimens local to the area. A £4.6m sensitive restoration project to the listed Stable Court building, home to the Prep School, was completed in September.
