After years of planning and searching, the School has successfully acquired a prime plot of land in Battenhall, Worcester, that will greatly enhance its sports facilities and expand its available playing fields. The new acquisition is especially notable, ensuring that pupils, including those at the King’s Prep Schools, King’s Hawford and King’s St Alban’s can, subject to planning permission, benefit from superb new sports facilities. This move is a direct response to the long-standing aspirations of many within the current and former King's community, who have eagerly awaited the opportunity.
Acting Head, Dr. Alison Oliver, expressed her excitement:
"This is a momentous occasion for King’s and I couldn’t be more pleased to share this news with our community. It’s a privilege to have taken on this site which will continue to be used for developing and growing sport within the city.”
The school’s new site, historically home to multiple community sports groups and the University of Worcester, opens up exciting possibilities for further development. The long-term vision, subject to planning permissions and consultation with the local community, includes the addition of multiple sports pitches and, in time, astro facilities and hospitality. These enhancements will significantly benefit both King's pupils and the surrounding community.
Mr. Mason, Foundation Director of Sport, shared his enthusiasm for the future:
"This acquisition represents an exciting leap forward for sport at King’s. With the new playing fields and future developments, we plan to be able to offer even more opportunities for our pupils to excel, as well as provide additional resources for our local schools and clubs. This reaffirms our commitment to nurturing the athletic talents of all our pupils, from grassroots to elite levels."
Further details about the project will be shared in due course, as King's Worcester continues to work toward realising this ambitious vision for the benefit of both the school and the local community.
