The day’s activities included the opportunity for current pupils, parents and alumni to tour the stunning new spaces, followed by an official opening ceremony. To share the joy, every senior school pupil enjoyed a celebratory cupcake during morning break.
The school has a long-held reputation of promoting academic excellence as well as developing well-rounded, independent learners, with its holistic approach to education being reflecting in the new centre’s design.
A variety of modern study areas, equipped with the latest technology, will offer students the flexibility to study independently or work collaboratively. Additionally, seminar-style classrooms promote interactive and dynamic learning, while the centre’s vibrant café provides a relaxed environment for students to take breaks.
The opening ceremony recognised Old Vigornian, John Weston, for his generous donation to the Sixth Form Centre. Representing him, John Foley joined Acting Head, Dr Alison Oliver, to officially unveil the centre’s plaque.
Dr Oliver commented, “The development of our Sixth Form Centre has been driven by a desire to provide our students with the best possible environment for their academic and personal development. The facilities are a testament to our commitment to providing a space where our students can thrive, explore their potential, and prepare for the future with confidence.”
The investment in the Sixth Form Centre sits alongside the recent redevelopment of the Sixth Form Curriculum, offering students an extended curriculum as they enter Higher Education and the world of work.
In addition to A levels and the school’s Life Skills Programme, students can now take full advantage of the new KSW Electives Programme, which has been designed to offer enrichment and challenge, enhance employability and provide additional invaluable UCAS points.
