Milton Abbey School hosted their first every Round Square Conference over half-term, inviting over 100 students from different Round Square schools around the globe, to learn about adventure, leadership and experience a traditional full boarding school in Dorset.
Milton Abbey School's Round Square conference offered 12-14 year-olds from the UK, India, Germany, Bangladesh, Canada, Pakistan, Peru and the USA, a week long experience aimed at developing young leaders through adventurous activities like sailing, mountain biking, and farming. Students enjoyed team sports, beach and water sports, and evening events such as music and sport competitions, treasure hunts and a disco. Creative projects in farming, fashion, and design workshops focused on developing student's teamwork and skill, as well as exploring sustainability. The conference fostered teamwork and leadership in an idyllic, rural setting, with trips to London to see the Science Museum and the London Eye.

Involvement in Round Square helps prepare pupils for adult life, encouraging them to embrace different cultures and form a deep and long-lasting understanding and appreciation.
The Round Square Conference at Milton Abbey School was designed by Hambro Housemaster and Commercial Director, Mr Olufunwa, supported by Events Officer, Mr Brayshaw, alongside current teaching, and boarding staff across the school, to ensure a true 'Miltonian' experience of the school.
The conference launched on Sunday with a 'Welcome Quest', where students enjoyed afternoon tea and a BBQ, then participated in icebreaker activities and a lively treasure hunt to explore the grounds and history of the site as well as connect with fellow students from different schools. Monday focused on team building through a series of team puzzles and a laser tag competition. The activities encouraged communication, problem-solving, and strategic thinking in a fun and dynamic environment. On Tuesday, students embraced the spirit of 'Water Warriors' with Paddle Boarding and a Raft Relay Race in Swanage. These water-based challenges tested balance, collaboration, and perseverance. On Wednesday, the group ventured into London. Highlights included a trip on the London Eye with stunning panoramic views, and a creative Photo Challenge encouraging students to capture unique and imaginative moments throughout the day. Thursday was a celebration of creativity and practical skills during the Skills Quest. Students rotated through a wide variety of activities, including a Survival Skills Relay, Cooking Challenge, Dance Challenge, Farm Challenge, Fashion Club, and a hands-on Science Challenge. Each task provided students with opportunities to learn, innovate, and showcase their talents. The week reached its high-energy peak on Friday with Splash and Dash! Students enjoyed a day of adventure at a local waterpark followed by the muddy fun of the Mud Trail Adventure. The day concluded with a joyful Farewell Party, celebrating the friendships and achievements made throughout the week. The conference concluded on Saturday with an Awards Ceremony. Students and staff gathered to reflect on the week’s experiences and recognise outstanding contributions, growth, and team spirit.
