There were standing ovations last night when the first night of the St Augustine’s Priory school production of ‘The Addams Family School Edition’ took place at The Questors Theatre, Ealing. This musical tale of the ghoulish New York family dealing with secrets, love and the undead was performed with energy, passion and great comic timing.
The performances and characterisations were outstanding, from the glorious Addams entourage: Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, Pugsley, Grandma, Fester and Lurch, the very ‘normal’ visiting Beineke family: Mal, Alice and Lucas to the Moon, stars and, of course, the many Addams ancestors, whose ensemble singing and dancing were a joy. Everyone involved deserves the highest praise! The song and dance abilities of the cast were impressive with one audience member commenting, “I was blown away – such a talented bunch”, and another saying, “It was fantastic – we loved it!”
Not only were the acting performances wonderful, but the costumes, choreography, lighting, sound, stage management, and the amazing band, all demonstrated the truly great results that teamwork can achieve. The Drama and Music Departments at St Augustine’s Priory have produced an amazing show, an evening to relish.
This production of ‘The Addams Family School Edition’ wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support of the St Augustine’s Priory Parents’ Committee, a clear indication of the community spirit so prevalent at this school.
‘The Addams Family School Edition’ is at The Questors Theatre from 12th – 14th March and there are limited seats available for tonight and tomorrow’s shows.
St Augustine’s Priory is a leading Catholic Independent Day School for girls aged 3 – 18 set in 13 acres of grounds.
