Following an excellent set of recent IB results, we are delighted with an equally impressive set of grades from our cohort of A Level students. 56% of grades have been awarded at A* - B and 83% at A* - C.
We are so proud of their achievements. To see a further increase in top grades (compared to 2019 results) is especially pleasing given the Covid challenges that they have faced during the 2 years of their studies. This year’s A Levels are the first public examinations that this cohort has taken.
Among some of the best results were A*, A*, A, A for Mattia P who is headed to the University of Edinburgh to study Civil Engineering and Niah G’s A*, A, A which has earned her a place at the University of Manchester to study Psychology.
Niah is now preparing for her next adventure, “To say I'm happy is an understatement! All those hours in the library paid off! I’m going to study Psychology at The University of Manchester. Thank you to all my teachers and a special thank you to my Psychology teacher for her guidance and inspiration.”
Headmaster Mr Lowde commented that; “I am thrilled for this year’s cohort. The results are a testament to their determination and hard work, as well as the quality of our online provision and in-classroom teaching. My thanks as usual go to the dedicated team of staff who work so diligently throughout the year and to the students themselves for valuing the work ethic that has helped them to succeed.
When combined with our results in the international Baccalaureate this year, where yet again our students outperformed the world average, this is a special moment for our Sixth Form.”
All students except one have secured their 1st choice university. Pupils will be leaving Box Hill School to take up places on courses at top universities including Cardiff, Edinburgh, Nottingham, Manchester and Newcastle, as well as popular courses at other UK and international universities including Westminster, Sussex, Kent , Bournemouth and the AMFI-Amsterdam Fashion Institute, Gilons (Switzerland) and SKEMA Business School - Sophia Antipolis.
Subjects include Civil Engineering, Law, International Marketing, Zoology, Psychology, Business Management (Entrepreneurship) and Graphic Design.
Toby M, who has been involved in every Drama Production since joining Box Hill School in Year 7, was ecstatic to find out his results, “even though I had received an unconditional offer to study Film Production, I did better than I expected! I won’t give up on acting, you’ll see me at the Drama Society!”
Head Girl, Ella R, after learning she had secured her place to study International Relations and Politics said “I was so pleased when I opened the email! My family are very happy I got my first choice of Cardiff University, and I’m very much looking forward to my time there.”
