St Augustine’s Priory is delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs Christine Macallister as Headteacher from April 2023. She was selected from a strong national field of candidates who went through a rigorous selection process.
Mrs Macallister has outstanding leadership and education skills and is looking forward to taking the school into the next stage of its development. Her commitment to the school is second to none and she believes firmly in its mission and purpose.
A graduate of the University of Durham with a B.A (Hons) in Combined Arts (Music, English and Management), Mrs Macallister trained with PwC and is a qualified Chartered Accountant. She followed a career in business and finance with several international corporations, including Disney International Television in London and Verizon in Hong Kong, before gaining a PGCE in Business and Economics from the Institute of Education, University College London. Mrs Macallister has experience in building and leading teams from diverse backgrounds and is Chair of the Society of Heads’ Deputy Heads’ Committee, working closely with colleagues around the country, sharing best practice and gaining detailed insight into the problems and opportunities in education today. Mrs Macallister is also an independent member of AQA’s Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee, providing her with a detailed understanding of current and future initiatives in public examinations.
Over the past twelve years Mrs Macallister has taught Business and Economics and joined St Augustine’s Priory in 2013. In her role here as Deputy Head Academic, she has been responsible for successfully leading the academic life of the school during one of the most turbulent periods of recent history, the COVID pandemic.
Aside from her academic contribution to the life of St Augustine’s Priory, Mrs Macallister is a talented musician and is an active member of the Music Department. She demonstrates a great commitment to the Catholic life of the school and, in her words, ‘I am committed to this extraordinary school and ensuring that it continues to build on its inspirational mission and purpose. I strongly believe that the girls in our school are given a unique opportunity to thrive in a Catholic community which encourages personal and spiritual growth, as well as academic excellence - the springboard for them to change the world.’
