Westholme School students went the extra mile with fundraising efforts in 2023, raising a total of £13,207 for local and national charitable causes through a series of events, in what was the school’s centenary year.
The Pleasington school’s 100-year celebrations concluded at the end of 2023 with Senior and Prep School carol services at Blackburn Cathedral where £1,704 was raised for Blackburn Food Bank.
And in the run up to Christmas, the School came together once again to support a Secret Santa fundraiser, collecting donations of toys, clothes and other gifts, to ensure that disadvantaged children in the local area had something to open on Christmas morning.
In November, pupils took part in a Dress Down Friday for Children in Need and made donations totalling £1,464 to switch out of their uniform for the day.
The School’s INSPIRED Sixth Form charity team organised a number of fundraising events throughout the year including a green and red themed day, raising £1,617 for the Morocco Earthquake appeal and £2,008 for Age UK and the Macmillan Coffee Morning campaign, by arranging bake sales, face painting and non-uniform days.
Commercial Director, Vivienne Davenport at Westholme School, said: “We are so proud of our students' fundraising efforts throughout 2023 and the total of over £13,000 is testament to the care and compassion they have shown to others on a local and national scale.
“Westholme is committed to supporting good causes again in 2024 and we look forward to taking part in the events that our students and staff will organise to bring awareness to a variety of charities in the local communities and nationally.”
