Pupils at Claremont Fan Court School in Esher, Surrey were delighted to receive fantastic GCSE results today. With 82% of results graded 6 or above, and 59% graded 7 or above, pupils had a great deal to smile about. 37% of exams were graded 8 or 9 (previously referred to as A*), surpassing even the results awarded over the Covid-years, and at all levels our pupils’ performance was well in excess of pre-Covid outcomes.
Headmaster William Brierly commented ‘After significant disruption over the past two years I am so proud of our GCSE pupils. Their results match, and in some cases exceed, those of 2021, even though Ofqual has downgraded results nationally. This really shows just how hard our pupils and teachers have worked and how much they have achieved.’
Claremont is an academically ambitious school, and was celebrating a remarkable 62% of A levels being graded A* or A last week. The school will be rolling out a unique Joyce Grenfell programme in September to ensure they continue to stretch and challenge all pupils, but Claremont is also renowned for the quality of its pastoral care, focusing on the individual, which has been so important in recent times. Next year the school will take one step further, establishing smaller vertical groups to champion wellbeing.
Claremont Fan Court School joined HMC last year and was a finalist in the award for independent school of the year. To find out more about what’s happening at Claremont Fan Court School, please contact [email protected] or visit www.claremontfancourt.co.uk
