Excitement reached fever pitch at The Royal Prep School in early February when the school’s semi-finals for StorySLAM took place.
In front of an experienced judging panel consisting of author, Sarah Holding (and StorySLAM final judge from last year) and members of Royal School staff, eleven courageous Year 5 and 6 children performed their short stories.
Dr Annalisa Alexander, Director of Prep, said, “Watching them up there, speaking so confidently to the entire school AND the judges, was a very proud moment for all of us.”
The overall winner was Emily F (Year 5), who will go on to compete for The Royal Prep School at the Grand Final in London on Thursday 9 February. Emily will be up against all the other primary schools within the United Learning Group across the country! Last year The Royal Prep School were runners up, so the school hopes to go one better and take the trophy home this year!
Public speaking is one of the elements of The Royal Prep School’s unique Future Ready curriculum and a skill that will stand the children in good stead for whatever sphere they choose to go into.
