On Wednesday 26 April 2023, award-winning speakers will share their insights on effective revision strategies as part of Surbiton High School’s community outreach programme. Surbiton POP! Talks is a virtual series of informative, fun and engaging talks aimed at students, teachers, parents, alumni and anyone at all with a thirst for thinking and curiosity for the world around us.
April’s POP! Talk: Revision SLAM will be invaluable, engaging and essential for anyone looking to improve exam revision including students, parents or teachers. Anyone who joins is sure to learn valuable insights and practical strategies for four confirmed speakers including Peps Mccrea, Lola Anderson, Lauren Steadman and William Wadsworth.
Peps Mccrea is the Dean of Learning Design at Ambition Institute, Director at Steplab, and the author of the ultra-concise High Impact Teaching series. Peps is a leading expert in retrieval theory and the science of memory, and he will be providing a whistle-stop tour of the big ideas that spill out of the evidence around memory and how to leverage them to boost learning.
Former Surbiton High School student, Lola Anderson, a U23 Gold Medallist and 2022 European Champion will be talking about how her preparations for sporting achievements are directly transferrable to the academic arena.
Paralympic Triathlon Champion, Lauren Steadman who was born without her lower right arm has proudly represented Team GB and will be talking about her sporting achievements, her focus on determination, and what it takes to be a Para-Olympian.
Learning Psychologist and independent learning science researcher William Wadsworth, who is passionate about helping students land top grades at school and university will be discussing exam techniques.
